Welcome to Brazosport ISD's Set Sail with Technology (SST) Summer program & blog.
The SST is an online learning program that encourages educators to learn more about emerging technologies on the web that are changing the way people, access information and communicate with each other. These emerging technologies are also changing options for students to create new products for assignments.
The SST Team modified The Library2Play program designed by Dr. Bishop at Spring Branch Independent School District. We included our new Atomic Learning program that will give us real time help with many of our technology issues and increase our confidence and knowledge to incorporate these technologies into our curriculum.
The SST program is a go at your own pace program, containing 9 weeks worth of activities. You can take the full 9 weeks to do them or work through them as quickly as you like. All activities must be done through the blog you will set up. These activities contain direct links and offers suggestions for ways to incorporate these tools into your classroom and teacher collaborations. It acts as a “jumping off” place to get you thinking about how to use these tools to affect your own classroom. During this time we hope you will share your ideas as you learn how to use web 2.0 tools. The design of this online program was completely built on Web 2.0 technologies that are freely available on the Internet. These sites include: Edublog, Google, Atomic Learning, TeacherTube, Wikis and others.
To familiarize yourself with this project, be sure to read the Other Information page. This page should answer most of your questions about this program. If not, then please add your question to any page as a comment. You may email me directly or participate in a face 2 face session.
So pull up the anchor, grab your mouse and get ready to set sail for a discovery adventure… and remember, it's OK to play in school and have fun!
